These instructions describe how to configure your browser to work with WaitroseDeliver and WaitroseEntertaining.

If the browser test has shown a problem, use the links above to jump to the relevant section and then scroll down to find instructions for correcting the configuration on your browser. Instructions are given for Internet Explorer and Netscape on Windows and Apple platforms.

If you change the settings on your browser, repeat the browser test by clicking on the 'Test your browser' link in the list on the left-hand side of this window.


Unsupported Browsers

WaitroseDeliver has been verified to be compatible with recent versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, Mozilla, Opera and Safari (list of browser versions tested). You may experience problems on the site if using other browsers.


Javascript

The paragraphs below describe how to enable Javascript on recent versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape.

Note that if you have add-blocking software or internet security software (e.g. ZoneAlarm) installed, you may also have to exclude www.waitrosedeliver.com from the sites that are blocked. Please refer to the help for your additional software for details.


Windows & Internet Explorer 5.x & 6.x

  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. Select the Security tab, and click the icon for the zone containing WaitroseDeliver, (usually Internet), then click Custom Level
  3. Scroll down to Scripting and under Active Scripting, select Enable.
  4. Click OK. Click Yes to any popup asking if you want to change the security settings, then click OK.

Windows & Netscape 7.x

  1. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
  2. Under Advanced, click on Scripts & Plugins. (You may need to double click on Advanced first to display the options under it).
  3. Under the heading Enable JavaScript for select Navigator.
  4. Click OK.

Macintosh & Internet Explorer 5.x

  1. On the Explorer menu, click Preferences.
  2. Click on Web Browser.
  3. Click on Web Content.
  4. Select Enable scripting. (You may need to double click on Web Content first to display the options under it.)
  5. It is not necessary to select Show Scripting error alerts.
  6. Click OK.

Macintosh & Netscape 7.x

  1. On the Netscape menu, click Preferences.
  2. Under Advanced, click on Scripts & Plugins. (You may need to double click on Advanced first to display the options under it.)
  3. Under the heading Enable JavaScript for select Navigator.
  4. Click OK.

Javascript Rendering

Internet Explorer and Netscape do not currently give an option to disable Javascript rendering, so if you are using one of these browsers, follow the instructions on enabling Javascript and this should enable Javascript rendering without further changes.

Note that if you have add-blocking software or internet security software (e.g. ZoneAlarm) installed, you may also have to exclude www.waitrosedeliver.com from the sites that are blocked. Please refer to the help for your additional software for details.


Popup Windows

The instructions below describe how to enable popup windows on recent versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape.

If the browser tester also showed Javascript as inactive, first of all follow the instructions on enabling Javascript and in many cases this will enable popup windows without further changes.

Note that if you have add-blocking software or internet security software (e.g. ZoneAlarm) installed, you may also have to exclude www.waitrosedeliver.com from the sites that are blocked. Please refer to the help for your additional software for details.


Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Internet Explorer

Service Pack 2 for Windows XP allows you to block popup windows in Internet Explorer.

You can tell if Service Pack 2 is installed on your PC, because this will be stated in the top row of details returned by the the browser tester.

If this service pack is installed on your PC, follow these instructions to ensure that WaitroseDeliver is allowed to open popup windows.

  1. In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. Select the Privacy tab.
  3. Under Privacy, there is a section called Pop-up Blocker.
  4. From this point, you have 2 options ...

  5. If you would like to allow popups for all websites, ensure the Block pop-ups checkbox is not ticked.
    Click Apply then OK.
  6. If you would like to block popups for most websites, ensure the Block pop-ups checkbox is ticked.
    Click Settings and if www.waitrosedeliver.com is not already in the list of allowed sites, enter www.waitrosedeliver.com into the box labelled Address of web site to allow:, then click Add.
    Click Close then OK.

Windows & Netscape 7.x

Recent versions of Netscape give you the option to suppress popup windows. Follow the instructions below to see if you have this option in your version of Netscape.

  1. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
  2. Under Privacy & Security, see if there is an option called Popup Windows. (You may need to double click on Privacy & Security first to display the options under it.)
  3. If you do not see Popup Windows, your browser does not give you the option to suppress popups.
  4. If you have a Popup Windows option click on it, then ...

  5. If you see a button called Allow Popups and you would like to allow popups for most websites, click that button then click Exceptions and ensure that www.waitrosedeliver.com is not in the list. Remove it from the list if necessary.
  6. If you see a button called Suppress Popups and you would like to suppress popups for most websites, click that button then click Exceptions and enter www.waitrosedeliver.com in the input box and click Add to add it to the list.
  7. If you see a checkbox for Block unrequested popup windows and you would like to suppress popups for most websites, tick the box then click Allowed Sites. Enter www.waitrosedeliver.com in the input box and click Add to add it to the list.
  8. If you see a checkbox for Block unrequested popup windows and you would like to allow popups for all websites, untick the box.
  9. Click OK.

Macintosh & Netscape 7.x

Recent versions of Netscape give you the option to suppress popup windows. Follow the instructions below to see if you have this option in your version of Netscape.

  1. On the Netscape menu, click Preferences.
  2. Under Privacy & Security, see if there is an option called Popup Windows. (You may need to double click on Privacy & Security first to display the options under it.)
  3. If you do not see Popup Windows, your browser does not give you the option to suppress popups.
  4. If you have a Popup Window option click on it, then ...

  5. If you would like to allow popups for most websites and you have a button called Allow Popups click that button then click Exceptions and ensure that www.waitrosedeliver.com is not in the list. Remove it from the list if necessary.
  6. If you would like to suppress popups for most websites and you have a button called Suppress Popups, click that button then click Exceptions and enter www.waitrosedeliver.com in the input box and click Add to add it to the list.
  7. If you would like to suppress popups for most websites and you have a checkbox for Block unrequested popup windows select this option then click Allowed Sites. Enter www.waitrosedeliver.com in the input box and click Add to add it to the list.
  8. Click OK, OK.

SSL

The paragraphs below describe how to enable SSL on recent versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape.


Windows & Internet Explorer 5.x & 6.x

  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.
  3. Scroll down to Security and select Use SSL 2.0 and Use SSL 3.0. Ensure that Use TLS 1.0 is not selected.
  4. We also recommend that you select Do not save encrypted pages to disk.
  5. Click Apply, OK.

Windows & Netscape 7.x

  1. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
  2. Under Privacy & Security, click on SSL. (You may need to double click on Privacy & Security first to display the options under it.)
  3. Select Enable SSL Version 2 and Enable SSL Version 3. Ensure that Enable TLS is not selected.
  4. Click OK.

Macintosh & Netscape 7.x

  1. On the Netscape menu, click Preferences.
  2. Under Privacy & Security, click on SSL. (You may need to double click on Privacy & Security first to display the options under it.)
  3. select Enable SSL Version 2 and Enable SSL Version 3. Ensure that Enable TLS is not selected.
  4. Click OK.

Session Cookies

The paragraphs below describe how to enable Session Cookies on recent versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape.


Windows & Internet Explorer 5.x

  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. Select the Security tab, and click the icon for the zone containing WaitroseDeliver, (usually Internet), then click Custom Level
  3. Scroll down to Cookies and under Allow per-session cookies (not stored) select Enable.
  4. Click OK. Click Yes to any popup asking if you want to change the security settings, then click OK.

Windows & Internet Explorer 6.x

  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. Select the Privacy tab.
  3. Move the slider to medium-high or a lower setting if you want less cookie restriction.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. If waitrosedeliver.com appears in the list of managed websites with a setting of Always Block, highlight the entry for waitrosedeliver.com and click Remove. If waitrosedeliver.com is listed as Always allow you can leave the entry as it is.
  6. Click OK, OK.

Windows & Netscape 7.x

  1. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
  2. Under Privacy & Security, click on Cookies. (You may need to double click on Privacy & Security first to display the options under it.)
  3. Select Enable all cookies, or if you prefer some cookies to be restricted, select whichever of the other options you want except Disable cookies.
  4. Click OK.

Macintosh & Internet Explorer 5.x

  1. On the Explorer menu, click Preferences.
  2. Scroll down to Receiving Files.
  3. Click on Cookies. (You may need to double click on Receiving Files to see the Cookies option.)
  4. From the dropdown list next to When receiving cookies, select any of the options you would like except Never accept.
  5. Click OK.

Macintosh & Netscape 7.x

  1. On the Netscape menu, click Preferences.
  2. Under Privacy & Security, click on Cookies. (You may need to double click on Privacy & Security first to display the options under it.)
  3. Select Enable all cookies, or if you prefer some cookies to be restricted, select any of the other options except Disable cookies.
  4. Click OK.
